Pastor Lanny Belcher has been at Sowders Chapel Baptist Church since January 2011. The church was without a pastor and the devil tried to discourage and divide the small congregation.  Their faith kept the doors open. We praise God for his faithfulness to His people.

Pastor Lanny is originally from Welch, WV. He is from a strong heritage of preachers, going all the way back to his great granddad. Lanny has been blessed with several spiritual mentors, the strongest one being his Dad, Alvin. Their preaching styles are very similar. He proudly wears the badge of “Bapti-costal”.

Prior to coming to SCBC, Lanny and his wife, Jenene, served the youth at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Christiansburg, VA for 8 years. Lanny has also served as a Music Director and Deacon at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford, VA. He has earned a Certificate of Biblical Studies from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA and is currently enrolled at Gethsemane Bible Institute in Walnut Ridge, AK.

He and his wife have two sons and are thankful they are both faithfully serving the Lord at SCBC. Anthony works in the sound room and has his own singing music ministry. Jarrod sings and plays the guitar. He and his wife Christi are ministering to the teens.

Pastor Lanny’s mission is to share the Gospel and lead the lost to Jesus. If you have been around him any amount of time, you know the “A, B, C’s”. A – Admit you are a sinner; B – Believe Christ died for your sins; C -Call on the name of Jesus to save you. It’s that simple!
